Additional Fees

Headset Equipment
As part of the curriculum, students participate in discussion groups with peers and facilitators throughout the online program. This is administered via Voice Over IP (VoIP) technology and students will need to purchase a headset with microphone. The headset is not available for purchase through Northwestern University; however, it can be purchased at most electronic retail stores for approximately $30 plus tax and shipping.

Proctored Exams
Students enrolled in the MMI online format are required to take four proctored exams throughout the course of the program. These exams must be administered by an approved testing site. Students must submit a Proctor Approval Application to SCS's Office of Distance Education group prior to taking the exam. The fee for taking a proctor-administered exam is usually $30-40 per exam.

Employer Reimbursement Plan
The University's (ERP) is designed for students whose employers offer reimbursement for tuition costs. The plan allows participants to defer their employer-covered tuition payments to Northwestern until after the term has been completed. There are no finance or interest charges; the only cost is a nonrefundable application fee of either $100 per term or $250 per year.

The ERP deadline for new students applying for the upcoming academic term is different than current students continuing through the program. Please note that ERP deadlines shown on the Northwestern University Chicago Office of Financial Aid Web site do not apply to prospective students applying to the program. Students must be accepted into the program before they are able to apply for ERP. Deadlines for this process will be communicated by the program enrollment advisors at the time of acceptance.
