ADMISSIONS
The online learning format offers a convenient way to earn a master’s degree in medical informatics.
Our enrollment advisors are available to assist students throughout the decision-making, application and initial enrollment process. Applications are accepted each quarter.
Application Requirements
- Provide evidence of completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or the foreign equivalent of a bachelor’s degree
- Provide two letters of recommendation that indicate a strong academic background and professional readiness
- Submit a resume and statement of purpose
- Complete the SCS graduate application and submit associated application fee
Admissions Criteria
Experience in the health care industry is preferred. Candidates with significant IT expertise and minimal health industry experience are encouraged to apply to the program with the following additional criteria:
- Statement of purpose that describes a clear, appropriate and moderately detailed plan regarding how the degree will meet the applicant’s career goals and demonstrates understanding of the various skills, roles and career paths associated with medical informatics
- Possess either a significant breadth of IT experience and skills that include IT development, or have spent a reasonable amount of time in a role supervising IT professionals with these experiences and skills
The program does not have a minimum GPA for admission, though applicants with a GPA of less than 3.0 (average grade of B) from their prior educational institution will need to demonstrate significant professional experience and expertise to be considered for admission. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required.
